Drum Circles for Youth Training
Drum Circles for Youth Training
Lucas Coffey has synthesized twenty-thousand drum circles of experience into a resource that will allow music teachers and educators to unlock the connective and creative power of drum circles with the youth they serve. This training will take you on a journey beneath the music to the social and energetic relationships that allow the drum circle to come alive. The philosophy is paired with practical steps to facilitate your own drum circle program.

What others are saying (What was the most valuable tool you learned at the training)?
“This was one of the most valuable workshops because you got to practice teaching and get feedback on your teaching. Most PD you just practice from the student perspective.”
“The structure of how to get a drum circle started was incredibly useful. The formula is very easy and prescriptive to follow.”
“Pedagogy – learning the progression for teaching the necessary skills – Lucas proved himself to be a master teacher in this and other aspects.”
“How to build upon concepts and reverse engineer them (ex: rhythms) to fit the class needs and serve the group no matter what level and needs they have!”
“I forgot how much more connected a circle can be, even though some students struggle with that much attention and distraction. I also really value the games that we did, and that it’s important to stress the “Washing it away” when even the teacher makes a mistake. It seems to create a more “team” atmosphere!”
“The structure of Ritual, Rudiment, Games, Rhythm, Drum Circle.”
“All of it was valuable!”
