WHY DO A FREE DEMO?
The reason we are doing the free demonstrations is to give you a no-risk opportunity to check out new artist in residence programs. We will work with two groups of your students (usually one older and one younger) to give you a hands on opportunity to see how our residency would fit in your school.
WHAT DO WE NEED FOR AN IN_PERSON DEMO?
- 1 class of approximately 30 students for 45 minutes each (one older and one younger)
- A room conducive to a 30 person circle (unobstructed and flat)
- 30 chairs
- Students that can help unload and load equipment (Gr. 4-9)
- A member of the parent council and administration to be available to attend the demo
WHAT DO WE NEED FOR AN ONLINE DEMO?
- A smartboard/projector screen
- A webcam
- A stable internet connection
- A member of the parent council and administration to be available to attend the demo
2021 Brain Ensemble Demo Dates: March 14th, 15th & 16th
The Brain Ensemble
Dr. Jane Bently, Mary Knysh and Lucas Coffey have created a new five-session program that teaches students about the brain using the drum circle as a metaphor. This multidisciplinary residency combines science, health and wellness & music to deliver a hands-on approach to learning about the brain! Sessions include:
- The mind: Changing the Unconscious
- Upstairs & Downstairs: The Creative Centre
- Movement: Activating the Brain
- Relationships: Collabobrain
- Choices: Brain Health
2021 Around the World Rhythm Residency Demo Dates: March 16th
- Grades 4-9 @ 12:45-1:15pm
- Grades 2 & 3 @ 1:30-2:00pm
- Grades K & 1 @ 2:15-2:45pm
This is a multi-school multi-day residency presented by incredible facilitators and percussionists representing many different places around the world. This will be a participatory residency where students will have an opportunity to make their own instrument, learn from professionals, and engage with questions and trivia. Here is what is included:
- *4 days of participatory drumming and rhythm
- *Multiple world class instructors
- *Recorded video of all presentations
- *Pre residency package, including videos and lessons to prepare students
- *Post residency package with videos and lessons for students to continue learning
